John L. Morris, Founder of Bass Pro Shops recognized
The highlight of the 3 day event was the Awards Banquet. On behalf of TMA members and the Board of Directors, Paul Meeks, Founder of API Outdoors presented John L. Morris, Founder of Bass Pro Shops the Gratitude Award for his continued support to the Association and also for sponsoring the Dogwood Canyon Event in 2013.
The special event including a private tram tour of some of the most spectacular features of the 10,000 acre Ozark paradise. Along the winding trails, the group stopped for a special prepared chuck wagon meal and included live entertainment.
The first parcels of the property were acquired in 1990 by Johnny Morris, the founder of Bass Pro Shops. It was his dedication to conserving our natural environment that has become the cornerstone for development of this spectacular wilderness experience.
The park is managed by the Dogwood Canyon Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the canyon’s natural plant and wildlife environment. The Foundation promotes environmental conservation by maintaining the park and providing the public with anunspoiled setting for exploration and the enjoyment of various outdoor activities.
