The TMA functions as a nonprofit corporation and is designated under section 501 (c)(6) business trade association with the Internal Revenue Service. The management of the business and the conduct of the affairs of the Association is vested in its Board of Directors and operates in the manner provided in the bylaws. The Board is made up of seven (7) members elected by the members (5 representatives from the Manufacturing Class, 1 representative from the Retailer/Buyer Class and 1 representative from the Professional Services Class), each to serve a term of two (2) years.
By virtue of its bylaws the TMA has an annual meeting as decided by the Board of Directors and is usually held in conjunction with the Annual Members’ Conference. At that meeting, the Board of Directors and members conduct association business. Members and guests also have the opportunity to share information and participate in an Awards Banquet recognizing those who have contributed to the TMA and the treestand industry.
Appropriate use of Association’s brands, trademarks and logos (collectively the “Marks”) are governed by the guidelines set forth in the document entitled “Use of Trademarks and Logos” established by the Board of Directors. To preserve TMA’s credibility and maintain consistency, any Member who misuses the Marks would be considered conduct deemed prejudicial to the Association. As a corrective measure, the Member shall provide the Board of Directors a written response of their intentions to take appropriate corrective measures. If such misuse is not corrected within a period set by the Board of Directors, the membership of such member would be subject to Suspension and Expulsion per the Bylaws under Article VII, Section 3.
The Treestand Manufacturer’s Association (TMA) is a nonprofit trade association that specifically devotes its resources to promoting treestand safety through education. It endeavors to improve treestand safety with the support of its member and also by fostering relationships with organizations with similar goals.
